CARDINALS TO DEBUT ‘THE NEST: MATTHEW LIBERATORE’ ORIGINAL FEATURE

Video Showcasing Intimate Access of Pitcher’s Offseason Training Available Tomorrow on Cardinals Website & YouTube Channel

ST. LOUIS, Mo., February 11, 2026 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that its newest original video feature “The Nest: Matthew Liberatore” will debut on cardinals.com and the Cardinals YouTube channel on February 12 at 5 PM CT.

The 20-minute video produced by Cardinals Productions staff showcases starting pitcher Matthew Liberatore at his home in Phoenix, Arizona and follows him through his offseason training regime in preparation for the upcoming season. The feature also touches on the southpaw’s life off the field with appearances from his wife and parents.

“It was really cool having the Cardinals Productions crew come visit me in Phoenix to see where my offseason work actually happens,” said Liberatore. “Getting to share the routine and behind-the-scenes grind that goes into preparing for the season made the whole experience special.”

The original feature is the second in Cardinals Productions’ The Nest series, following its inaugural and Emmy-nominated episode with former Cardinals utilityman Brendan Donovan before the start of last season.

In addition to being able to watch the video online, St. Louis viewers can watch the episode over-the-air on:

• KTVI 2 – Sunday, February 15 and Sunday, March 15 at 10:30 PM
• Matix Midwest – Sunday, February 22 at 6:30 PM
• KMOV 4 – Sunday, March 8 at 11:00 PM

Many might scoff at the importance of this feature, but it shows the evolution of the Cards over the last 2 years.

Before the regime change, the team didn’t pull the curtain back; you’d get the regular John Mozeliak interviews where he used a bunch of trendy terms and didn’t really say much.

Now we’re getting inside access to the players; not only their personal lives, but their routine to prepare. Hopefully we get to see some advanced technology that helps the players prepare for the season.

And this is important because technology and sabermetrics are now used as prep material for players. Rapsodo can give insight to pitch grips and spin rates. Trackman can help hitters optimize their swing. Players can get all the data on their opponents before facing them.

The Cards have been behind the curve on all of this and hopefully the video shows that things have changed. We’ll truly find out with the first injury, since the team hasn’t always been forthright with player injuries.
