Devin Williams Speaks On Yankees Tenure And Free Agency

Devin Williams hinted at a potential reunion with New York

Standing outside the Yankees clubhouse on Wednesday evening was the usually quiet and mild-mannered Devin Williams recapping his season to the media, but he noticeably was one of only two players, the other being Aaron Judge, that did not change out of their Yankee pinstripes after the game.

This season was far from a walk in the park for Williams, losing his job as Yankee closer not once, but twice this season, but from mid-august through the end of the Yankees season, Williams was one of the most consistent and dominant relievers not just on the Yankees, but in baseball.

“At first, it was a challenge, but I’ve grown to love being here. I’ve really enjoyed my experience here” Williams said.

“I think, overall, it was pretty good. It was along the lines with what I’ve done in the past, outside of a few blowup games. I feel like I contributed — there were more good ones than bad ones.” Williams added.

Everyone highlights all the bad that came from Williams this season, but he did not allow an earned run since that meltdown in Houstion on September 3rd, that was not fully his fault.

Williams was also asked about a potential reunion with the Yankees saying “I’m definitely open to that. Takes two parties for that, but I would definitely be open to it.”

Williams also proved he could pitch in New York in the postseason, which is a quality not many people have. It might be in the Yankees best interest to at least consider a reunion with the Yankees.
