“Music is my medicine”, says Jaben John Groome, the singular visionary behind grunge revivalist force of nature JBNG, who have been on a truly prolific and relentless streak of releases and critical recognition alike. Similar to artists like Ty Segall, Screaming Trees and Thee Oh Sees, Jaben is an artist who lives and dies for his unique contribution to the grunge and alternative music movement.
Through sheer grit and feist, Jaben is a survivor, bringing a powerful message of resilience, mental health advocation and ‘against all odds’ psychology to his music and growing fanbase. He carries with him both a love for classic rock and roll as well as the giants of the grunge movement, namely Nirvana, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth and so many others. He carries the torch while breaking new ground. With a prolific streak of releases which are currently monthly, this is a human, vulnerable force of nature that cannot be stopped.
With releases like Run, Run, Live at the Biltmore, Run Unplugged, and Meh, JBNG continues to evolve the grunge and rock traditions with vital, personal writing and execution.
Jaben discusses his early inspirations and the spark for his love of rock and roll: “I’ve come from a lifetime of learning in towards music for support during hard times from an early ages including Beatles, Buddy Holly and Elvis until my childhood flooded with grunge. Songs are inspired by the true love of my life and the eventual tragedy that ended our 23 years together.”
His recent single “Many Moons” is a raw, yet heavily melodic sonic experiment that defies typical song craftsmanship approaches and leans into something more visceral.
“Many Moons was written about an undying love that survives all of the ups and downs of life parallel along with the earths astronomical cycles. Including the history behind the origin of the saying that was common in the 50s as my dad would sing it which was reflected in the video.
“We grow with each astronomical cycle and we learn with every loss. Radical acceptance when things end as nothing ever really dies it just becomes its true cell form again and evolves into whatever it needs to be each time.”

Run and Run Unplugged was recorded in 2024 with producer David Ziehr, Run Live at the Biltmore was produced by Henri Brown and released in 2024.
