CARDINALS RE-ASSIGN THREE PLAYERS TO MINORS
43 PLAYERS REMAIN ON MAJOR LEAGUE SPRING ROSTER
JUPITER, Fla., March 10, 2026 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that the team has reduced its Spring Training roster to 43 players, with three players being re-assigned to minor league camp.
Those being re-assigned today were pitchers Max Rajcic and Bruce Zimmermann and outfielder Chase Davis.
The Cardinals currently have 30 major league roster players and 13 non-roster invitees in Major League camp.

None of these guys were projected to make the majors. Zimmermann is minor league depth, while the other 2 are back-end, legit prospects who need more seasoning.
Rajcic has shown flashes in the minors, even being the Cardinal’s 2023 Pitcher of the Year. Since then, he’s struggled as he’s advanced in the system. His spring numbers have looked good, but he’s also facing inferior hitters (6.3 OppQual, equaling a player between Hi-A and AA). He’ll spend the season in Memphis with a possible late season call up.
Davis is a little more fascinating. He’s a former first rounder who’s struggle to put it together as a pro. He’s flashed power in the past, but struggled to tap into in Springfield in 2025. I think he’s a potential breakout guy this season, like Joshua Baez did last year. He should split the season between Springfield and Memphis.
