The announcement was made live this morning with Fredbird present on Good Morning America on National Mascot Day.

Fredbird was selected for induction from a competitive ballot of 28 mascot nominees, curated by the Mascot Hall of Fame Executive Committee. Over 125,000 votes were cast during a spirited two-week online fan voting period in May, reflecting the passion and dedication of sports fans nationwide.

Fredbird becomes the 9th Major League Baseball mascot to be inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame, joining the Phillie Phanatic, Mr. Met, The Oriole Bird, Lou Seal (Giants), Orbit (Astros), Southpaw (White Sox), Sluggerrr (Royals), and Slider (Guardians).

Fredbird has performed at more than 3,600 regular-season games and been to seven World Series. He was a part of World Series Championships in 1982, 2006, and 2011. In addition to entertaining fans at the ballpark and around the community, he co-hosts a 30-minute television show, Cardinals Kids, with Cardinals broadcaster Brad Thompson on FanDuel Sports Network Midwest. Fredbird was inducted into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.

The Mascot Hall of Fame is the hall of fame for North American sports mascots founded by David Raymond, the original Phillie Phanatic, in 2005. The organization’s mission is to recognize and honor the best of the best mascot character and programs in existence. It has elected 38 professional and collegiate team mascots into its hall of fame since its founding. Fans can visit mascothalloffame.com for more information.
