Former Cardinals

Reliever Kevin Herget has been designated for assignment by the New York Mets; they acquired reliever Jose Castillo from the Diamondbacks and needed a 40-man spot. Since Herget has been DFAed in the past, he can reject a minor league assignment and become a free agent.

Andrew Kittredge was a key cog for the Cardinals bullpen last year, but signed with the Baltimore Orioles in the off-season to a 1-year deal. Unfortunately for the Orioles, Kittredge hasn’t pitched yet at the Major League level; he had his left knee cleaned out during spring training. The good news for Batlimore is that he’s out on a rehab assignment and is nearing his debut with the team.

2011 World Series Champion Rafael Furcal was arrested in Florida for felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and throwing a missile into a public or private dwelling or vehicle. He was released on bond. It’s unclear what exactly has happened, but it doesn’t sound good; it sound worse than Vince Coleman throwing fireworks at kids.
