CARDINALS REACH AGREEMENTS WITH FIVE PLAYERS
CARLSON, HELSLEY, KING, KITTREDGE & ROMERO AGREE TO 2024 CONTRACTS AND AVOID SALARY ARBITRATION

ST. LOUIS, MO., January 11, 2024 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have reached agreements on one-year contracts for the upcoming 2024 season with outfielder Dylan Carlson and pitchers Ryan Helsley, John King, Andrew Kittredge and JoJo Romero, avoiding salary arbitration. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
The team will exchange salary arbitration figures with infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman.

Terms for King and Romero have not been disclosed yet. Derrick Goold is reporting that Carlson is making $2.35M while John Denton reported Helsley will be making $3.8M; MLB Trade Rumors projected Carlson at $1.8M while Helsley was projected at $3.0M. Kittredge will make $2.2625M; he was projected at $2.3M
King was projected to make $1.0M and Romero $900k.
Edman and the Cardinals will wait until the hearing to work out their deal; no word on what each side is filing at. The Cardinals in recent years have not negotiated with players after the filing deadline; they went to a hearing with Helsley last year and Jack Flaherty the year before. I do feel that the Cardinals might make an exception here if Edman is open to a long-term extension.
