MARCH 9, 2023 (NEW YORK, NY) — Roots rock veteran CHRIS BERARDO has set his SXSW 2023 play cards on the table with five shows, including his official SXSW Showcase in Austin, TX at The Saxon Pub on March 16 at 10 pm.
Berardo, a New York-born, Connecticut-based singer-songwriter is currently in collaboration with longtime Reckless Kelly guitarist David Abeyta, who is producing Berardo’s imminent fourth full-length album, Wilder All The Time, set for release later this year via Blue Elan/KZZ this spring/summer, following a string of recently released a series of singles: “Somewhere Blue,” a knock-out cover of the Badfinger classic “Baby Blue,” and a gorgeous original holiday tune “This Year” – all these songs were done with Abeyta, working from his home studio in Austin.
Last year, Berardo brushed off his American Dust for a 25th anniversary by releasing it for the very first time digitally. Music Row Magazine hailed it “as good a country-rock record as you will hear this year” and Vintage Guitar Magazine proclaimed that the album established Berardo’s “place in the lexicon of roots rock.” Americana Music Times, moreover, named Chris Berardo and the DesBerardos (his band) as “one of the finest Americana bands out there.”
An innate showman since the age of 12, Berardo’s compositions continue to channel the AM radio Southern rock and country influences of his youth in Bronxville, NY – the likes of Neil Young, The Eagles, the Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, Poco, and the Doobie Brothers. Honing his craft alongside legendary Four Seasons tunesmith Bob Crewe, and on a thousand beer-stained stages, the Connecticut-based singer-songwriter offers refreshingly unfiltered timeless performances.
