Since the 2023 trade deadline, the St. Louis Cardinals have shifted strategy by trading veteran players for prospects. Driven by management changes aimed at rebuilding the farm system, these transactions targeted long-term depth rather than immediate major league impact. How have they worked out?
Last time I looked at what the #Cardinals should do; now we look at what's starting to happened, at least rumored to happen. Everything here came out over the last 5 days or so; older rumors are so out of date or over-reported that I'm not going to include them. #stlcards #forthelou #mlb #baseball #tradedeadline #rumors
The Cardinals quiet off-season had the tiniest of news yesterday as the team acquired a utility player in trade; scouting report in the link. They also are talking w/ Boston again about Arenado. Plus a couple of minor league roster moves & some former Cards join new teams.
Not much in the headlines right now for the Cardinals; just more drama in the Nolan Arenado saga. There are also a few rumors around Paul Goldschmidt. And some former Cardinals are on the move.
The Cardinals are talking with their players with no trade clauses about the next season. Plus other trade candidates, minor transactions, and some former Cardinals in the news.
As we close into the deadline (5:00PM CST today), we're getting a lot more on the rumor front; not like a few years ago when Juan Soto was on the market, but some lesser names this year.
The Cardinals are working on a 3-team deal that will send utility player Tommy Edman to the Dodgers and bringing right handed starter Erick Fedde to the Redbird rotation and Tommy Pham to the outfield.
I'm continuing to look at players that the Cardinals could be interested in based off the rumors that are out there. Part 1 featured Zack Eflin, Erick Fedde, Luis Robert Jr., Brent Rooker, Bryan De La Cruz, Randal Grichuk, Tommy Pham, Mark Canha, Connor Joe, and Kevin Pillar. This time I'll focus on 5 more trades.
With the All Star game a week away, rumors are starting to pick up; the trade deadline is July 30 & teams will start really putting feelers out about who will be buys & sellers. As of right now, the Cardinals appear to be buyers.
Minor League Baseball (MiLB) today announced the Player and Pitcher of the Month Award winners for June in Major League Baseball’s player development system.
