Since the 2023 trade deadline, the St. Louis Cardinals have shifted strategy by trading veteran players for prospects. Driven by management changes aimed at rebuilding the farm system, these transactions targeted long-term depth rather than immediate major league impact. How have they worked out?
As expected, the #Cardinals sold off a few players; maybe a few less than I would have liked. Here are the releases from the Cardinals about the 3 deals they conducted and scouting reports on the deals.
The St. Louis Cardinals today announced their selections for Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Month for June, with Springfield Cardinals (AA) left-handed starting pitcher Mason Molina and Peoria Chiefs (A+)/Springfield infielder Jesús Báez taking home the honors.
The Cardinals announced their selections for MiLB Pitcher and co-Player of the Month for April, with Peoria (A+) RHSP Yhoiker Fajardo, Memphis (AAA) IF Blaze Jordan, and Palm Beach (A) IF Jack Gurevitch receiving the honors.
We're at the front half of the teens of the Top 50 #Cardinals Prospects, & we get even closer to the guys that might make an MLB impact. 3 of the 5 came from the draft, including 1 from this last draft. #stlcards #forthelou #mlb #milb #prospects
Here's the next round of #Cardinals prospects - 21 through 25. 3 were acquired in the last year in trade, showing how Chaim Bloom's front office is revamping the system. There is a lot of upside on this list, but also a large chance that these guys don't develop like the organization hopes. #stlcards #forthelou #mlb #milb #baseball #prospects
The #Cardinals haven't been shy about their off-season plans; they are rebuilding and will listen on almost any player. Here are the names that have popped up in the last week or so. #stlcards #forthelou #mlb #baseball #hotstove #rumors
A busy deadline eve had transitions into an even busier deadline. The #Cardinals completed their trades with the #Mets (Ryan Helsley for 3 prospects) & Red Sox (Steven Matz for Blaze Jordan), but they still have a few guys out on the market. #stlcards #forthelou #mlb #baseball #tradedeadline #rumors
The #Cardinals have acquired 3 minor league players from the Mets in exchange for All-Star RHRP Ryan Helsley. IF Jesus Baez, RHP Nate Dohm, & RHP Frank Elissalt were acquired by #stlcards. Scouting reports included. #forthelou #mlb #baseball #tradedeadline
Last time I looked at what the #Cardinals should do; now we look at what's starting to happened, at least rumored to happen. Everything here came out over the last 5 days or so; older rumors are so out of date or over-reported that I'm not going to include them. #stlcards #forthelou #mlb #baseball #tradedeadline #rumors
