The St. Louis Cardinals expanded their active roster by promoting catcher Leo Bernal, right-handed pitcher Hancel Rincón, and outfielder Victor Scott II. To make room on the roster, catcher Jimmy Crooks was optioned to Triple-A Memphis.
The trade deadline is Monday, August 3rd, and I expect the Cardinals to be active. I'm hoping as sellers because this team is close, but they won't compete in the post season with how the roster is currently constructed.
