Stream the album When Friendship’s Not Enough: https://bfan.link/when-friendship-s-not-enough Québec City melodic punk band Still Insane has released the new album, When Friendship’s Not Enough, out now via Thousand Islands Records. Fast, honest and stripped of anything unnecessary, When Friendship’s Not Enough captures the energy that has kept Still Insane moving for two decades. Across 12 tracks, the band delivers sharp riffs, catchy choruses and songs about friendship, independence, trust, conflict and the bond created by playing music together. The album’s focus track, “Together,” goes straight to the heart of that bond. Inspired by four friends gathering in a cramped practice room surrounded by old posters, cold beer and smoke in the air, the song celebrates the simple joy of getting together once a week and making the walls shake. As “Together” makes clear, the real strength comes from what happens when they play—and sing—alongside one another. “It’s when we all sing along / That it makes us want to keep going strong,” Dorval sings over an anthemic chorus built for crowded rooms and raised voices. With equal parts sincerity and self-awareness, “Together” also acknowledges that nothing lasts forever. The band may joke about whether it will still be doing this in another 20 years, but for now, there is still nothing to prove and every reason to keep playing. Formed in Québec City in 2006, Still Insane has spent the past two decades delivering fast, melodic punk rock rooted in the immediacy of skate punk. Fronted by vocalist Eric Dorval, the band has built its catalog through releases including Friends & Family and a steady run of hard-charging singles. Along the way, Still Insane has shared stages with some of punk rock’s most influential bands, including NOFX, Bad Religion, Millencolin and Guttermouth. Rather than looking backward, When Friendship’s Not Enough channels that history into a record that feels immediate, alive and loud. Previously released singles including the title track and the defiant “Do What You Want” introduced an album that balances the complicated side of personal relationships with the freedom, release and sense of belonging the band continues to find in music. Every song brings its own pace and personality, but “Together” sums up what has kept Still Insane going since the beginning: four friends, one room and the feeling that comes when everyone joins in.
