With just weeks remaining before the release of their highly anticipated tenth studio album, Bad Summer, Maryland alt-rock favorites Ballyhoo! have unveiled their soaring new single, “Thunderstorms,” available now on all streaming platforms.

Produced by John Feldmann (Blink-182, Goldfinger, Avril Lavigne), “Thunderstorms” showcases everything that has made Ballyhoo! one of alternative music’s most enduring independent success stories. Bursting with massive melodies, driving guitars, and an unforgettable chorus, the track perfectly captures the band’s signature blend of beach-inspired pop-punk, alternative rock, and feel-good summertime vibes.

The song serves as the latest preview of Bad Summer, arriving August 28 via Right Coast Records.

A Full-Circle Collaboration

Ballyhoo!

For more than two decades, Ballyhoo! have built a loyal fanbase through honest songwriting, infectious hooks, and relentless touring. While Bad Summer finds the band pushing their sound forward with one of their most ambitious productions to date, “Thunderstorms” proves their greatest strength remains unchanged: writing songs that demand to be sung along to.

The album’s collaboration with Feldmann represents a full-circle moment for the band, pairing them with a producer whose work has influenced their sound for years.

“Ballyhoo! were a joy to work with!” says Feldmann. “They are all such incredible musicians and super open-minded, and we made an awesome album! I can’t wait for everyone to hear it. So stoked to be included in this musical masterpiece.”

Frontman Howi Spangler shared his excitement about the project. “We knew we wanted the next thing we did to be special and I’ve always wanted to make a record with Feldy. We put ourselves out there and took a big swing to make that happen. The record turned out even better than I thought it would. We’re so very proud of BAD SUMMER and we can’t wait for you to hear it August 28th!”

Building Momentum Toward Bad Summer

Following the release of the title track “Bad Summer,” “Cali Girl II,” and fan-favorite “I Guess I’ll Go F* Myself,”** the arrival of “Thunderstorms” offers fans one final taste of what’s to come.

The album finds Ballyhoo! operating in the sweet spot between hook-driven pop-punk, alternative rock, and sunny summer anthems. It’s a collection that should resonate with fans of Bowling for Soup, Less Than Jake, and the melodic songwriting that has defined Ballyhoo!’s career.

Touring the World

The release comes as Ballyhoo! embark on their long-awaited European debut, including appearances at BrakRock and Punk Rock Holiday, along with a series of international club dates.

Later this year, the band will return to North America for a fall tour alongside Bowling for Soup, continuing what promises to be one of the biggest chapters in the band’s career. Looking further ahead, Ballyhoo! are also scheduled to perform on the 311 Caribbean Cruise in March 2027.
