Introduction: Mild Spoilers For Echoes Of Wisdom

Echoes of wisdom is the last place I would have gone for story revelations in the Legend Of Zelda series, but here we are. Now I will say before I start, this article contains MILD spoilers for The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom. If that is a problem, feel free to click away right now. For everyone else, read on.

Echoes Of Wisdom’s Low Story Expectation

Going into Echoes Of Wisdom, I don’t think anybody was expecting an amazing story. I think we all expected Zelda’s first game to have a passable story, but not one with lore revelations. Boy were we wrong! Echoes Of Wisdom has one of the biggest lore bombs in recent history, it may even be the biggest out of all of the 2d Zelda games.

The Truth Of The Matter

The story of echoes of wisdom starts of pretty simple, Link fight Ganon. However it is not long until you see Null. Null is the true villain of the story here. A new villain in Zelda never happens, so that’s already more than was expected in the story. Eventually, we learn what this “Null” is about, he just wants to devour everything. Even more than I expected. Lastly we learn the biggest learn bomb. The goddess that tells you all of this says, “We three goddesses could not abide this and created the skies and the lands to contain Null,” Suddenly my mouth is ajar. The goddesses of old, that we already knew created Hyrule; created it, to contain Null. This is why I said this game, this cutesy 2d Zelda game, has one of the biggest lore bombs of any 2d Zelda.

What I Think

Finally we get to what I actually think about this. I think it’s awesome. For one thing, this is Zelda’s first outing as a main character and I think that makes the lore bombs even stronger. Another thing is that it’s just plain cool, who would’ve thought that the reason for the creation of Hyrule, was to contain an evil even more evil than we have ever seen. Conclusion

Honestly, I don’t have much more I can say without repeating myself. I love the story in this game and the lore it has given me. The fact that there is a new bad guy at all is enough for me, but lore bombs on top of that. I am floored.
