The off-season is officially here now that the Rangers have taken the World Series from the Diamondbacks. That means, things go in motion now. Here is the roadmap for the off-season.
November 2: Players can declare as free agents; this starts the exclusive negotiating period between free agents and their current team. The Cardinals free agents are:
Tommy Edman (Utility) is the only Cardinal as a finalist.
November 6: Teams can start signing free agents from other organizations.
November 7-9: GM Meeting in Arizona.
November 13-16: IBWAA announces their awards.
November 14: Teams must make qualifying offers to free agents. This year, the QO is set at $20.325. The Cardinals probably won’t make a QO to any of their free agents.
November 14: Teams must set their 40-man roster for the Rule V Draft; eligible players must be placed on the 40-man roster to be protected. Here are the Rule V eligible players in the system:
November 14-16: Owners Meetings in Texas; owners are expect to vote on the relocation of the Oakland Athletics.
November 17: Non-tender deadline. Players who are arbitration eligible can be non-tendered and become free agents. Here are the Cardinals arbitration eligible players with service time and projected salaries:
