Los Angeles, CA (August 7, 2026) — The GRAMMY Museum® has officially released the complete panel discussion from its June 24 event celebrating BUST A MOVE: Matt Dike, Delicious Vinyl, and the Hip-Hop Hits That First Conquered Pop, the acclaimed new book by music journalist Peter Relic.

Debuting today on the official GRAMMY Museum® YouTube channel, the special conversation brought together author Peter Relic, GRAMMY winner Young MC, hip-hop legends Mellow Man Ace and B-Real of Cypress Hill, Body & Soul’s Rose Hutchinson (Almight-T), and Delicious Vinyl co-founder Mike Ross. The panel was moderated by hip-hop journalist Justin Hunte.

Recorded live before a packed audience inside the museum’s Clive Davis Theater in downtown Los Angeles, the discussion delivers firsthand stories about the artists, records and creative community behind Delicious Vinyl, while exploring the independent label’s lasting role in helping hip-hop break further into the pop mainstream. 

Today’s video release follows the continued success of BUST A MOVE, which reached Amazon’s Best Sellers list upon its June 30 release and has continued to earn enthusiastic reviews from music journalists, critics and readers. 

Kirkus Reviews called the book “informative and wildly entertaining,” while Music Existence praised it as “a lively, sharply observed chronicle” of one of hip-hop’s most unconventional success stories. Music Connection added, “It’s about time these guys, and Delicious Vinyl, got their props.” 

Published by Kensington Books and featuring a foreword by B-Real of Cypress Hill, BUST A MOVE tells the story of how Delicious Vinyl co-founders Matt Dike and Mike Ross built the label from a modest apartment on Santa Monica Boulevard and helped reshape the sound and reach of rap through era-defining releases by Young MC, Tone Loc, Mellow Man Ace and others. 

At the center of the book is the story of Matt Dike, the brilliant and elusive DJ, producer and creative force whose vision helped define Delicious Vinyl at its peak. Drawing on extensive reporting, rare photographs and dozens of interviews—including Relic’s exclusive in-person interview with Dike—the book brings one of hip-hop’s most important and previously underdocumented stories fully into view.

Published by Kensington Books, the book chronicles the rise of Delicious Vinyl and the key role the label played in shaping hip-hop’s crossover into mainstream culture. 

More About the Author:
Peter Relic is a journalist who has worked on staff and written for the most prominent hip-hop publications of the past 25 years, including VIBE, XXL, Rap Pages, and the Beastie Boys’ highly influential zine Grand Royal.

As associate editor at VIBE, he wrotethe magazine’s first stories on Eminem and Serena Williams, and his XXL magazine story on the Geto Boys was anthologized in Best American Music Writing, edited by Mary Gaitskill.

His work has also appeared in Rolling Stone, The Los Angeles Times, Architectural Digest, and The Plain Dealer. He lives in Georgia, where he is senior writer, public relations, at Savannah College of Art and Design.
