ST. LOUIS, Mo., August 13, 2026 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced they will host a 20-year anniversary reunion of the 2006 World Series Championship team at Busch Stadium on Friday, September 11, presented by Heartland Coca-Cola.
Over 30 former players and coaches from the 2006 team, including National Baseball Hall of Famers Tony La Russa & Scott Rolen; and Cards Hall of Famers Chris Carpenter, Jim Edmonds, Jason Isringhausen, Yadier Molina, José Oquendo, & Albert Pujols are scheduled to take part in a pregame Ford Truck motorcade around the warning track beginning at 6:30 PM before that evening’s 7:15 PM game against the Chicago White Sox.
Others scheduled to attend the reunion include 2006 World Series MVP David Eckstein, 2006 NLCS MVP Jeff Suppan, Ronnie Belliard, Randy Flores, Braden Looper, Aaron Miles, Mark Mulder, Anthony Reyes, Scott Spiezio, So Taguchi, Brad Thompson, Adam Wainwright, Jeff Weaver, Preston Wilson and more.
That night, 15,000 fans, age 13 and older, will take home a 2006 World Series All-Over Print Shirt, presented by Coca-Cola and Schnucks. Fans can also enjoy the festive Friday Night Live atmosphere with $5 draft beers, $5 grilled hot dogs, $7 Margaritas on the rocks, live music and more in Budweiser Terrace.

After having to wait until the final day of the regular season to clinch a playoff spot with an 83-78 record, the 2006 Cardinals put together a postseason run that no Cardinals fan will ever forget. The team was led in the regular season by MVP runner-up Albert Pujols, who batted .331 with 49 home runs and 137 RBIs. Chris Carpenter, who finished third in Cy Young voting, anchored the pitching staff, going 15-8 with a 3.09 ERA.
In the postseason, the Redbirds got by the San Diego Padres in the divisional series in four games and then faced off against the New York Mets in the NLCS. The series came down to a thrilling Game 7 with two young players becoming St. Louis heroes. Catcher Yadier Molina hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth to break a 1-1 tie. Then, closer Adam Wainwright clinched the pennant by striking out Carlos Beltran with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, sending the Cardinals to the World Series for the second time in three seasons.
The team was able to finish it off by beating the Detroit Tigers in five games. Shortstop David Eckstein earned World Series MVP honors, hitting .364 for the series. Wainwright would again close it out for the Cardinals, striking out Tigers third baseman Brandon Inge to clinch the organization’s 10th World Series title and its first since 1982.
