Cape Cod Singer Songwriter Caroline Brennan delivers a stirring Americana EP with an underlying message of hope on “The Journey”, out May 29, 2023 via . “The Journey” thematically acknowledges struggle and sadness, while remaining certain in it’s warm conviction that light, and joy, naturally transcend and reach beyond the darkness.
Caroline’s honest lyrics and soulful melodies string together relatable themes of love, heartache, and hope…all pulled from her life and her reflections on the human experience. Although there is a sense of gentle wisdom that pervades this new collection of songs, it’s Caroline Brennan‘s humility and warmth that makes them particularly affecting. The result is a profound yet decidedly lighthearted release informed by the innermost qualities of the artist.
This multi-award winning musician expands on the origin of “The Journey” and what these songs mean to her personally.
“For me, these 5 songs symbolize a journey…the bad relationship or situation you are trying to break free of (“Going Back”), the realization that you need to move on (“Swim to Shore), the vacation or escape you need to get away and clear your head (“Breathe Happy In”), the special place where you find a sense of community and enjoy a memorable night enjoying life (“No Longer Blue”), and the new chapter with someone new where you bravely jump in and take a chance on love (“Break All the Rules”).
“These 5 songs are about the human life experience…the recognition that we all yearn to be with each other, that we will have heartache through that journey, that we will need to lean on each other through difficult times, but if we maintain hope, there is also beauty, love, and friendship, and those things help us to enjoy life to the fullest.
“I find that I am drawn to writing songs about both sadness and happiness…the light and the dark, because I see value in both. Without the struggle, we don’t fully appreciate the victory, and having hope can pull us out of despair. We feel, and we learn, and having the good and the bad experiences create balance – they help us recognize the other one when we see it. Having music to face the sad stuff can help us to make sense of it and all the uncomfortable feelings that go with it….however, the world needs more happy and uplifting songs.
“Feel-good songs are just as important as the sad ones. It’s the light at the end of the tunnel, that we keep moving towards. I feel very lucky and thankful for my life and everything in it, and being aware of that helps me to write songs that have happy or uplifting messages…that there is so much to live for, so much to hope for, and many blessings in our life to be grateful for.”
“The Journey” is scheduled for release May 29, 2023 via Zephyr Sound. Fans of Brandi Carlisle, Lori McKenna, Kacey Musgraves and Sheryl Crow, as well as those looking to breathe in some happy and let go of the blues, should find much to enjoy here.

Artist Biography:
Caroline Brennan is a Singer-Songwriter from Cape Cod. She proudly announces her new single “Break All the Rules” from her new 5 song EP, “The Journey,” presented by Zephyr Sound.
Her 2015 debut original album, “Leap,” received multiple nominations and awards for music and song writing. A vocalist and guitarist, her honest lyrics and soulful melodies string together relatable themes of love, heartache, and hope…all pulled from her life and her reflections on the human experience. Her music has been described as a unique blend of americana and rootsy folk-pop.
Growing up in a musical family, she began singing and performing as a young girl. Her songwriting began in earnest after the passing of her father and well-known Irish musician, Noel Henry. She honed her guitar playing and vocal skills performing with her late father’s Irish band, the “Noel Henry Band.” After 14 years, she left to pursue a more personal musical path, focused on writing and performing her original songs.
Caroline recently recorded 2 songs, “Break All the Rules” and “Going Back,” which when added to the 3 singles she released in 2022 (“Swim to Shore” and “No Longer Blue” in September 2021 and then “Breathe Happy In” in June 2022) form her new EP “The Journey.” This EP and the rest of her catalog (including her full album “Leap”) are all available on ITunes, Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services. Caroline performs regularly on Cape Cod and the South Shore area. She and her husband also founded the Virtual Concert Facebook Page “Solidarity Sessions” during the pandemic. This allowed them to bring live music into the homes of their fans and to host other musical artists as well. Her shows typically include acoustic originals and a few of her favorite covers. She can be booked as a solo performer, as a duo with her husband Sean Brennan, or with a backing band called the “Skiffs.”
