CARDINALS SPRING ROSTER REDUCED TO 46; NON-ROSTER INFIELDER JEREMY RIVAS RE-ASSIGNED TO MINORS
JUPITER, Fla., March 18, 2023 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced following today’s game that non-roster infielder Jeremy Rivas has been re-assigned to minor league camp.
Today’s transaction leaves 46 players remaining on the Spring Training camp roster, including 13 non-roster invitees.

CARDINALS RE-ASSIGN THREE TO MINORS; 43 PLAYERS REMAIN IN MAJOR LEAGUE SPRING CAMP
JUPITER, Fla., March 19, 2023 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have re-assigned three players to minor league camp, reducing their Spring Training camp roster to 43.
Non-roster pitchers Kyle Leahy and Ryan Loutos, and catcher Jose Alvarez were re-assigned today.
Today’s transactions leave 33 Major League roster players and 10 non-roster invitees on the Spring Training camp roster.

All 4 players didn’t figure into the 2023 plans. Rivas has the best potential of the bunch, but he’s only 20 and hasn’t played above A-Ball yet.
With players returning from the WBC, we’ll see a better idea of the roster this week. Pretty much the starters are in place, with Jordan Walker forcing the issue of the outfield. Masyn Winn is having a great camp, but I don’t see him heading north with the club.
In other WBC news, Nolan Arenado was hit in the hand with a pitch last night and left the semi-final game against Cuba. The good news is X-rays were negative; the bad news is he probably won’t play in the finals. I don’t think he’ll miss much time with the Cardinals, but Nolan Gorman could slot into the spot with Brendan Donovan. A DL stint could allow the team to keep Winn up to see how he hits in regular games.
