Cardinals Reach Agreement With Seven Players
Tommy Edman, Jack Flaherty, Jordan Hicks, Dakota Hudson, Andrew Knizner, Jordan Montgomery, & Tyler O’Neill Agree to 2023 Contracts to Avoid Salary Arbitration
ST. LOUIS, Mo., January 13, 2023 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have reached agreements on one-year contracts for the upcoming 2023 season with pitchers Jack Flaherty, Jordan Hicks, Dakota Hudson, and Jordan Montgomery; infielder Tommy Edman; catcher Andrew Knizner; and outfielder Tyler O’Neill, avoiding salary arbitration. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
The team will exchange salary arbitration figures with pitchers Genesis Cabrera and Ryan Helsley following today’s deadline.

- Edman: TBD
- Flaherty: $5.4M
- Hicks: $1.8375M
- Hudson: $2.65M
- Knizner: $1.1M
- Montgomery: $10.0M
- O’Neill: $4.95M
Chris Stratton had previously agreed to a $2.8M contract back in November.
