THE WRECKS Livestream Sold-Out Nashville Show This Saturday, July 16

“The Wrecks’ mix of ‘don’t quit’ and ‘who cares’ mentality seems to be setting them on the right track.” – Billboard
“While embracing the spirit of creative experimentation, the band’s growth is evident in this long-awaited, genre-bending eleven-track record.” – Ones To Watch
“Made up of a handful of love and loss scores, this LP crosses genres in an inaugural way for The Wrecks’ catalogue. From their previously cemented alt-rock sound on tracks like ‘Dystopia’ and ‘Don’t Be Scared’ to a pop-punk twist on the title track, ‘Sonder’ and ‘I Love This Part,’ Sonder is a perfect display of a band honing in on their matured sound.” – Setlist.fm
“This is alt-rock on fire. Burn, babies, burn.” – idobi

On this sophomore album, there’s not only their distinctive witty, frantic genre-bending tracks (“Sonder,” “Don’t Be Scared,” “Unholy,” and “Lone Survivor”) but also their take on mesmerizing alt-rock love/loss ballads (“Where Are You Now?,” “Dystopia,” “Unrequited,” “No Place I’d Rather Be,” “I Love This Part,” and “Where Are You Now” featuring girlhouse).
Their live performance has recently been hailed by Minnesota Daily as “a night of electricity, both figuratively and literally,” while Shepherd Express exclaims that “Vulnerability plays an important role in The Wrecks’ work. In both his songs and onstage persona, [vocalist/producer] Nick Anderson pulls every lyric, every note from personal experience. The result is songwriting that is uncomplicated and deeply honest. It is hard not to feel as though Anderson is giving pieces of himself to fans in every performance, especially when he picked up an acoustic guitar and delivered some of his most heart-wrenching songs including ‘Normal’ and ‘Ugly Side’ solo, leaving not a dry eye.”

The Wrecks kicked off their headline Better Than Ever tour featuring support from girlhouse and Mothé in Fresno (sold-out) on June 9th and has since played sold-out shows in San Francisco (both nights sold out), Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City, Denver, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Chicago, Buffalo, Albany, Asbury Park, Pittsburgh, DC, Boston, and the tour will conclude with two shows in Los Angeles on July 22 (nearly sold-out) and July 23 (sold out) at the Regent Theater. After attending the band’s Boston show, Music Existence lauds that The Wrecks are “set on a trajectory to dominate the alt-rock sphere, where their multifaceted talents and electric ambitions will make them a name to behold.” They add, “Their 80-minute set did not once deviate from Anderson’s impressive vocal range and the band’s tight precision. Their discourse spurs a sense of privilege being able to watch this group of people that clearly have the time of their lives just being up there together. They play as if the crowd is an added bonus, which is something that makes their show even more special.”
What The Press Is Saying:
“The result was an 11-song album that delivers on not only the sound the group’s fans have come to love (their top 5 songs on Spotify boast a combined 80+ million streams) but showcase the band feeling confident in pushing their sonics with several genre-blending songs in addition to their first feature with indie-rock singer girlhouse on “Where Are You Now?” – All Access
“Mixes dream-pop and bombastic rock.”– Buzzbands.la
“They excel at crafting a completed body of work. Whether intentional or not, they are storytellers at their core and really know how to weave together intense narratives. What makes this band unique is their constant pursuit to be better and explore all corners of music. They aren’t limited by trends or what’s on the radio. They make the music for themselves and in doing so they create a unique listening experience.” – Incoming & Outgoing Magazine
“Enjoyable music aside, the album’s themes hint at a universal truth of break-ups: that the decay of any relationship is ultimately a two-party job, but neither party sees it that way. Break-up conversations that do not vilify the other person are a rarity in the world and they are nearly extinct in LA. The Wreck’s new album doesn’t shy away from this fact. Rather, it stares this fact in the face, shines a light on it, and pours it a drink… In short, Sonder is cathartic, self-aware, and sneaky in the best way. It is also fun as hell.” – Blurred Culture
“Do you understand Sonder? If you’re not a fan of the The Wrecks you probably don’t, but that’ll change with a listen to the NYC collective’s second album’s title track. Pop-punk at its core, the upbeat cut takes on an emotional breakup juxtaposing lyrical losses against a heated and heroic instrumental. It’s in that blend does the listener begins to understand.” – Digital High
“If you’re searching for the eternal sound of summer, the alternative indie punk-pop outfit the Wrecks might be just the thing you need to remember the season is here. Eleven tracks nod to the quintessential pop/punk sound of the early 2000’s paying homage to the pioneers of the genre. But in Sonder, the Wrecks have developed their own unique 2020’s twist incorporating elements of current pop trends and new wave style synth to the mix.” – NYS Music
“The Wrecks have today released their new album titled Sonder. After reviewing their single ‘Lone Survivor‘, I thought I had this band pegged. I thought I had them figured out. Now I look like an @$$hole. I really really do. But, that’s ok. There is much more here. Much under the surface. Right now there is an iceberg named Sonder and I just heard the 80% under the surface. The intricacies within each of the songs delivers a lot more than expected. The little things like an inflection, a guitar note or riff, so on. It’s the details like that where you can really tell if a band cares about their music. And, while ‘Sonder’ has that ‘polished’ sound, it fits. Like a glove. It’s signature.” – Jammerzine
“Building on the explosive and high-octane sound that sold out multiple headlining tours, ‘Lone Survivor’ embraces a dark and anthemic spirit with an icy and electric pop bent.” – Ghettoblaster
“Lead singer Nick Anderson’s voice was always interesting but with this new direction it has found its footing. This no longer sounds like trial and error but rather a single put out by an established pop-rock band. Will 2022 be the year that we’ll find The Wrecks on the top 40 hit list or score a TikTok hit? They are definitely on the right track and it won’t be much longer before this hidden gem becomes a worldwide phenomenon.” – GEM Magazine
“You can tell by listening to this album that The Wrecks have evolved and have more of a mature and angstier sound especially when looking back to their 2020 debut Infinitely Ordinary.” – Soundigest
“Larger than life and filled to the brim with catchy as hell, incredibly relatable bangers, The Wrecks’ new album, Sonder is some of their best work yet. Driven by vulnerable lyricism, there are no two songs on Sonder that sound the same, but emotionally, they all hit hard.”
– Prelude Press
“Sonder, the sophomore LP from pop rock troubadours The Wrecks (along with the music video for the album’s title track) and the catchiest and most pogo-able breakup album of the year…” – Philthy Mag
“It’s clear how much their sound has matured since their beginning.” – Beyond The Stage Magazine
“Sonder is a dynamic album. Throughout the 11-song tracklist, there is not a single skip… The Wrecks have created a masterpiece.” – Backward Noise
“The Wrecks are fresh off the release of their latest album, Sonder, an album that the band wrote, produced, and finished during the pandemic and has brought the band on tour since early last month. Now at the tail-end of the run, it’s Cambridge’s turn to see the band live in the city for the first time since the lockdowns. So, of course, it’s a longtime sold-out performance and one that is sure to be chock full of some huge moments from the talented quartet.” – New England Sound
“The album being titled Sonder is fitting because it ties into this acceptance that people have a life of their own in which they’re constantly making their own decisions. It’s this release of control and acceptance of change. Sonder is the understanding of the complexity of not just strangers but those closest to us – especially those we once loved. Sometimes we seem to forget that everyone is experiencing life themselves; experiencing sadness, anger, and even a release from what once was. With this album, The Wrecks were able to convey so much honesty and openness when it comes to heartbreak, loss, and anger – something that isn’t always easy.” – Astr0 Mag
“The title track, “Sonder,” is a perfect mix of alt-rock and a love ballad that showcases The Wrecks talent for genre-bending and their unique musical genius.”- Pop Passion
“If you’re looking for new music to listen to, The Wrecks may just be the equivalent of hitting the jackpot.” – Post Athens
“…. the alt pop band is on tour and riding high, routinely selling out shows.” – antiMUSIC
Sonder follows the release of the band’s 2016 debut EP We Are The Wrecks (their first single “Favorite Liar” currently has 36 million+ streams on Spotify), their 2018 Panic Vertigo EP, their 2020 Static EP as well as their 2020 debut LP Infinitely Ordinary (58 million+ streams on Spotify).
The Wrecks began as vocalist/producer Nick Anderson’s sole endeavor and has since been rounded out by Aaron Kelley (bass), Nick “Schmizz” Schmidt (guitar), and Billy Nally (drums).
The Wrecks continue to rack up the massive fan base that has already given their top five singles on Spotify over 80 million listens. Poised for a wide-open road ahead of them, Nick Anderson and The Wrecks continue to charge into the limelight. Not too shabby for a kid from Wellsville, just two hours south of nowhere.
