FEBRUARY 18, 2022 (United Kingdom) — After a career of playing in bands and collaborating with other artists, British singer-songwriter Maddox Jones made his debut as a solo artist in 2020 with the critically acclaimed EP, Headspace. The EP reached #4 in the iTunes singer songwriter chart, as well as the follow up 2021 single “Can’t Wait for the Summer” also hit the top spot on the same chart.

Jones then teamed up with ARIA award nominated multi-platinum selling DJs Bombs Away to deliver an official remix of lead single and title track, “Headspace.” The internationally recognized Australian duo transformed the hypnotic synth-washed pop number into an epic dance-floor banger and pushed “Headspace” to #11 on Music Week’s Commercial Pop Chart.

Featured as One to Watch in 2022 by BBC Introducing Northampton, Jones as a solo artist. He also achieved #5 on Music Week’s commercial pop and upfront club chart with “Make Me Yours,” remixed by Beyond Chicago (Example, Limit3r and WZA). As a support artist, Jones has opened for Thomas Heaton, Beaux and The Lottery Winners. Prior to going solo, Jones’ career included four Top 40 hits with The Departure, as well as supporting The Killers and Placebo and playing at Reading and Leeds Festival and Glastonbury.

MADDOX JONES “Ready To Be Better”

“Ready To Be Better” is an up tempo, upbeat song about the moment of awakening the desire within us to be better. Jones explains, “It’s a song of redemption and wonder with a fabulous feel-good factor that celebrates the continual evolution of the human psyche.”

Jones adds, “I remember picking up my guitar New Year’s Eve 2020 and I was in a place where I was pretty much sick of my own s**t. I decided to write a song about exactly where I was at that time. I looked at the time on my phone, took a deep breath and let the words pour out of me. “It’s a quarter past 3 on New Year’s Eve but it could be any day from the past few years I’m skating on ice, fighting my vices yeah.” It’s basically like an extrapolated version of waking up with a hangover saying, “I’m never drinking again.” I felt like I’d let people down and I wanted to say sorry. Two years deep into Covid it feels relevant in a whole new way, I think we’re all ready to be better.”

“Ready To Be Better” is taken from the forthcoming debut album Believe It, where Jones explores becoming himself, overcoming addiction and falling in love, scheduled for release April 8th, 2022 via Radikal Records.
