Best of Last Week:
New Mutants #18 – Karma goes into the Crucible on behalf of her brother, who is stuck in her head (and has been for a while), against Mirage. At the same time, Scout confronts her teammates who are learning from the Shadow King, which leads to a face to face between the 2. It was an OK issue; the Crucible stuff was good, while the Shadow King stuff was not as much.
X-Men #19 – Mystique accepts a suicide mission to keep Nimrod from going online and fails. There is an intriguing arc here, where Mystique is playing by the rules to get Destiny resurrected, and Xavier and Magneto are stringing her along. It’s not going well and this is going to lead into the upcoming Inferno storyline. I’m really like it.
Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #12 – This was actually from 2 weeks ago, but I wanted to get everything in this arc read. Valance, while working with Dengar, is searching for Boba Fett and the carbonite-frozen Han Solo. Valance is doing it to save Solo while Dengar wants the bounty. They also have to deal with Zuckuss and 4-LOM. It’s a good set up issue and goes a little into the history of Solo and Valance (started in the Solo mini-series a few years ago).
Star Wars: Darth Vader #12 – Vader is getting repaired after his trip to Exegol and is dwelling on the fact that his son is weak because of his reliance on his friends. He decides he’s going to get Solo back from Boba Fett, with the help of the Sith Assassin Ochi. Like Bounty Hunters, it’s a good set up issue.
Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #10 – Aphra and Sana Starros are being pulled into the Bounty Hunter Wars somehow; this issue did more wrap up on the last arc (which I didn’t read) then set up what’s coming. I did notice the Nihil mentioned, so I guess the previous arc was tied into the High Republic somehow. This was the weakest of the 3 Star Wars books.
Don’t forget, the Krakoa Mutant Tracker is (supposed to be, but not right now) updated weekly as new books come to Marvel Unlimited.
