Here’s a look at some recent articles that caught my attention.

Inside Pulse Comics (aka Comics Nexus) looked back at last weeks comics; somehow I missed Providence and I need to pick it up. I tend to like Alan Moore stuff. They also look at All New Hawkeye, Chew, Deadly Class, and Suiciders, all of which I’ve fallen behind on.

Have you ever read an article that just had you shaking your head? The Sporting News look at draft misses for every team in baseball. When there is an event where very few players make it to the highest level, there will always be huge misses. Scouting is more difficult than batting. This could be a future article for me.

So, Paramount Pictures has put together a “brain trust” to help build a cinematic universe. They’ve added screen writers, comic writers, and TV people to it, but have left off the most important group of people: former Transformer creators. I’m not talking about about the cheesy cartoon people, but rather IDW’s comic writers, especially Simon Furman. They have built a pretty impressive universe and back story for the characters and it would translate well to film. I wouldn’t complain either if they started from scratch in the movie series.

In other movie news, the Dark Tower has gained some movement; it looks like Sony is closing in on Nikolaj Arcel (“A Royal Affair”). The franchise had a pretty unique filming schedule for the series; movies with TV mini-series to tell the full story. We’ll see if Sony follows that plan.

Shameless self promotion: I look at Michael Wacha this season and compare him to other aces at age 23.
