CARDINALS SELECT TREVOR CONDON WITH 13TH OVERALL PICK OF 2026 MLB DRAFT

18-Year-Old Outfielder is Team’s Highest Drafted High Schooler Since 2000

2026 Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year & University of Tennessee Commit Batted .504 During State Championship Winning Senior Season

ST. LOUIS, Mo., July 11, 2026 – The St. Louis Cardinals selected outfielder Trevor Condon (KAHN-duhn) out of Etowah (Ga.) High School with their first-round selection (13th overall) in the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft.

Condon, 18, helped lead the Etowah Eagles (33-7) to the Georgia Class 6A State Championship and was named 2025-26 Gatorade Georgia State Player of the Year. The 5’11”, 178 pound senior batted .504 with nine homers, 42 RBI, 17 doubles and 15 stolen bases through 36 games.

The University of Tennessee commit was named a First Team All-American by both Baseball America and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

Condon becomes the first high school player selected by the Cardinals in the first round of the MLB Draft since 3B Jordan Walker was taken 21st overall in 2020, and the first high school outfielder since Dylan Carlson (33rd overall) in 2016. He is the highest-drafted high school player taken by the organization since outfielder Shaun Boyd (13th overall) out of Vista (Calif.) High School in 2000 and just the 11th high school player taken by the team within the top 13 picks of an MLB Draft.

Condon batted .419 and hit eight home runs his junior year, leading Etowah to the state semifinals. He was also part of Etowah’s 2024 state championship squad as a sophomore. He becomes the first draft pick from Etowah High since RHP Sawyer Gipson-Long was selected in the sixth round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins.

Born in Woodstock, Georgia, Trevor is the son of Craig and Michele Condon. He has an older sibling, Brionna, who played softball at South Carolina and Georgia Tech. He is not related to 2024 No. 3 pick and fellow Georgian, Charlie Condon.

Brian Moehler was the Cardinals area drafting scout.

The 2026 MLB Draft continues this evening with the Cardinals having six additional selections (nos. 32, 50, 68, 72, 86, & 114) and will resume tomorrow with rounds 5-20, beginning at 10:30 AM CT.
