“”Enigma” is perfectly titled, marking a true superlative for her uncompromising approach to music. With compositions featuring dark interludes, unique melodies, and even an homage to Black Flag’s Drinking and Driving, Kira affirms that giving music time and space to transform naturally remains one of her songwriting goals.”- The Big Takeover

LOS ANGELES, CA — Pioneering musician Kira Roessler (Black Flag, dos) has officially released her new solo album Enigma today via Org Music. To mark the album’s arrival, Roessler has also unveiled a new lyric video for the title track, “Enigma,” offering one more entry point into the record’s stark, intimate world.

A continuation of the minimalist, emotionally rich musical language Roessler introduced on her acclaimed 2021 solo debut, Enigma finds the pioneering bassist, songwriter, and composer pushing further into spacious, bass-driven arrangements shaped by restraint, vulnerability, and emotional precision. Across the album, Roessler transforms deeply personal reflections into songs that feel both intimate and cinematic, favoring nuance, atmosphere, and raw feeling over excess.

“Enigma is the continuation of the narration of my life through song — honest, if over-dramatized statements about what is in those moments,” Roessler explains. “Leaning into the raw feeling of it all. I feel very lucky to be able to share some new music with those who listen.”

Co-produced with her brother Paul Roessler (Screamers)Enigma captures Kira further refining a singular artistic voice that has never relied on convention. The album also features contributions from Petra Haden, whose backing vocals add subtle texture to the record’s spacious sonic landscape. While maintaining the stripped-down framework that has become a hallmark of her solo work, Enigma broadens its emotional and tonal range, revealing new dimensions in Roessler’s songwriting and performance.

Best known for her groundbreaking work in Black Flag, where her melodic and unconventional bass playing helped reshape the band’s sound during its most exploratory period, and for her long-running collaboration with Mike Watt in dos, Roessler has spent decades forging a path entirely her own. Beyond music, she has also built an acclaimed career in film and television sound editing, with credits including Mad Max: Fury RoadGame of Thrones, and Project Hail Mary.

With Enigma, Roessler once again demonstrates her ability to transform vulnerability into art, creating music that feels simultaneously personal and universal. It is a record rooted in honesty, tension, and atmosphere — one that continues to expand her voice as both a songwriter and sonic architect.

Enigma is available now on vinyl, CD, and digital formats via Org Music. All LP and CD purchases include a digital download.
