March 27th Nintendo Switch Direct. My Super Positive Thoughts

Introduction And Disclaimers:

First things first; this is my thoughts on the direct and what I thought was most interesting. I will be posting an overview later, but this is not that. Second, I liked this direct. It was jam-packed with announcements and updates that excited me personally; not only that but it also seems to have excited others. Third, I know this is late and yes I will also do the Switch 2 direct; please be patient. Without further a-do. My thoughts.

My Favorite Game Announcements:

I have 6 games that I would classify as my “favorite” game announcement’s. For anyone who just wants to know the games; here they are:

  • Dragon Quest 1 + 2 remake
  • Patapon 1 + 2
  • Story of Season: Grand Bazaar
  • Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
  • Rift of the Necrodancer

My favorite out of all of the announcements might be Patapon 1 + 2. For any how didn’t play the P.S.P. original; Patapon is a rhythm game where you play as a god, who directs a tribe in battles, through the power of music. It’s an interesting concept that surprisingly works very well. I can’t wait until it comes out, especially because I never got the chance to play the second game. Although I do wish they also re-released the third.

Dragon Quest 1 + 2 is probably the next in order. I LOVE Dragon Quest and have played all of the games… except 1, 2, and 3. Well I’m in luck, as they seem to have answered my specific prayer of remaking those games.

Metroid Prime 4 was a favorite announcement of many. Personally it’s not my favorite, (obviously) but it’s still up there. Without going super in depth, it looks GOOD! All of it, from graphics to gameplay.

Story of Season and Rift of the Necrodancer aren’t as high as the others but they are still some of my favorites. The reason is simple and the same for both: I love the games that came before in both cases.

The Non-Games:

These are the 3 things that were announced that weren’t games:

  • Nintendo Today
  • Digital Game Sharing
  • Switch 2 Direct 4/2

I have several things to say about all of these so let’s get into it.

Starting from the top is Nintendo today. At it’s core Nintendo today could be boiled down to a Nintendo calendar, but that would be selling it short. Nintendo Today is not just a Nintendo themed calendar, but also a Nintendo event app that you can customize with specific games and their events. Because of this I think it is an interesting idea. While I will acknowledge that it isn’t the most innovative; it’s still pretty cool for Nintendo. You take what you’re given.

Next is digital game sharing. I’m going to be honest. I’m still not certain exactly how this works, however it seems that you can loan out digital games to another persons switch. Like I said, I’m not certain I get it, so I’m going to link to the Nintendo page at the end of the article.

The Switch 2 Direct was on April second and, like I said, I will post an article on that. But I will say this: I loved it.

Closing Thoughts And The Rest:

I in general liked this direct even if most of it wasn’t entirely for me. I can even acknowledge that things like Tomodachi Life, which we didn’t mention, are exciting if not for me. As said before I will post an overview and then will start posting on switch 2. It’s gonna be busy; but also exciting!
