Front man Nick Petty says, ““She Found Love,” is a song that reflects on that special someone you had love for, moving forward in life, and finding new love. It’s nostalgia of the good times spent with the one you carried loved for, and having to come to terms with their new life alongside someone else.
“I wrote it about an unhinged character, as I can become often, and feel I resonate with. For this character, it’s a significant realization to accept someone they care for and miss so much, moving onto a new life.
“Daniel Lonner, the lead singer of the band, Spray Allen, recorded the song at Eric Wilson, of Sublime’s, residence and studio in San Diego, CA. In addition to his stint in Sublime where he plays alongside his best friend’s son, Jakob Nowell, Eric’s second band is, Spray Allen. The band often jams at Eric’s studio, and we’ve been lucky to hang out there and get closer with the musicians. Lonner had me play many of the songs I’d written for him. He picked one and selected two parts to work on.
“It reminds me of the way that my band, The Happys, also works together. Sometimes I write the whole song or short parts and then bring it to the band to see which ones resonate more with them at the time. Lonner mixed our song with his own unique style added along.”
Formed in 2012 by songwriter Nick Petty, The Happys are an alternative rock outfit from the San Francisco Bay Area. The lineup includes Ale’ Sanchez on lead guitar, Brett Brazil on bass, and Elijah Smetzer on drums.
They’ve toured extensively across the country and built a dedicated fanbase. The Happys have made a mark with their energetic music and savvy guerrilla marketing, earning accolades such as the 2022 Best Punk Rock Band of the North Bay Area from both The Bohemian and Pacific Sun. More recently, they secured 2nd place at the 2024 Corte Madera Fourth of July city festival.
The band has shared stages with a range of notable acts, including Sublime with Rome, Hobo Johnson, Jakob Nowell, Spray Allen, Suicidal Tendencies, WILLIS, Merciful Fate, and Pennywise, among others. Their discography includes two full-length albums, “Trippin” and “ADHD,” and an EP titled “Bipolar.”
Currently, The Happys are working on a new album with producers Brian Rosemeyer and Jack Endino, known for their work with Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Sonic Youth. Some of the new material was recorded at Eric Wilson’s home studio in Bonsall, CA, with the full album expected to release in Spring 2025.
