Debut Album Bad Start out October 11
AUGUST 16, 2024 [Los Angeles, CA] — Northern California’s favorite alt-rock/pop punk trio StrateJacket are thrilled to share the performance video for their propulsive recent single “End of Time” (out today). Taken from the band’s debut album (Bad Start out on October 11, 2024 via EDGEOUT), the performance video arrives after the band headlined the Hurley Stage at the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, CA last week and ahead of their bay area performances on August 23 in Cupertino, CA at The X Bar and on September 6 in Menlo Park at The Guild Theatre.
Hot on the heels of the band’s newly released video for “Bad Start” – which saw Jackson Roemers (lead vocals/guitar), Fabian Angel (vocals/bass) and Nate Mangold (drums) leaning into the “being an idiot but meaning well” trope for the video – the band, still in their early twenties, embraces this youthful energy for the chant-ready fight song, “End of Time,” which Melodic Magazine lauds as the anthem for anyone getting ready to take charge, (“As we get into this hasty, take-no-prisoners spirit, lead vocalist Roemers gives us lines like, ‘If it happens again / It will happen tonight / It’s a means to an end / Grab your pitchforks, we’re going to fight.’)”
Also announced today in tandem with the video are the band’s headline shows in September that will see them perform in cities such as San Antonio (September 19), Dallas (September 21), before stopping in New Orleans (September 23) for a WZRH Event with Judah & The Lion. Their headline run will then hit Austin, TX’s Mohawk on September 25 before capping off at Tucson, AZ’s Groundworks on September 28.
Continuing to add to their live performance repertoire, after the band’s Aftershock Festival performance in Sacramento on October 10 the band will then be joining up with Ten Years for a handful of supporting dates along the west coast portion of their tour: Seattle, WA (October 12); Portland, OR (October 13); Los Angeles (October 16); Phoenix, AZ (October 18); and rounding it out in Roswell, NM on October 19.

The band’s upcoming debut album Bad Start follows their newly released self-titled EP StrateJacket and features singles like the shout-at-the-heavens title track “Bad Start” (originally featured on EA Sports’ NHL24 Soundtrack in tandem with NHL24’s Playlist last year), the ultra-melodic “Be My Drug,” and the newest single “End of Time,” all of which overflow with dark humor and contain the sort of electric energy that has hyper-charged the Bay Area’s punk and alternative scenes for decades.
StrateJacket’s journey to Bad Start has been marked by unwavering determination, even during the darkest days of the pandemic lockdown. Unsure when they’d play another gig, they persevered, unsure if they would secure a record deal or make an album. Yet, they maintained optimism and hope, overcoming every obstacle. Their resilience has seen them grow from humble Bay Area venues to playing at prestigious festivals like SXSW, Welcome to Rockville, and Omaha’s KIWR’s Summer Bash in 2024. Looking back at StrateJacket’s origins, it’s clear they didn’t get such a bad start after all.
StrateJacket recorded the album at Vancouver’s Armoury Studios in November of 2022. They worked with the Juno/BMI-winning Canadian producer/songwriter Brian Howes (Hinder, Skillet, Boys Like Girls) to bring their vision to life. The band also secured Grammy® winning Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Muse, Prince) to mix the tunes, ensuring a high-quality sound that matches their musical ambitions.
StrateJacket’s debut album – Bad Start – will be released on October 11, 2024 via EDGEOUT/UMG/UMe. The band’s performance video for “End of Time” is out today, watch HERE.
