November 14, 2023 – Today, rising Los Angeles indie rock band Nitefire has unveiled the official music video for their single “I’ve Been Taking Walks (La La Song)” from their recently-released five-song EP The Great, Unwashed.

The playful and exuberant clip, directed by up-and-coming photographer and director Maddy Rotman, was shot over the course of a single day and features the band and a revolving cast of 40 friends in a series of quick-cut vignettes as they cruise the streets of Los Angeles in a Mercedes convertible.

“The video for ‘I’ve Been Taking Walks’ was a lot of fun to shoot. It was my girlfriend Maddy Rotman’s directorial debut and we originated the idea based loosely on the Entourage opening credits shots where the crew drive around Hollywood in a big Lincoln convertible,” explains Nico Geyer.

“Our friend Ben Elias, who is a DP in New York (and shot/directed our first music video for “Uptight”) had a trip booked to LA, so we planned the shoot for a day when he was going to be here so he could make sure all the camera tech was right and ready. He’s also just our favorite friend to collaborate with when it comes to video making — he’s very knowledgeable.

“Maddy had the idea to basically crowdsource all of our ‘actors’ through our many shared friends in LA. From morning to midnight, we borrowed a friend’s black 1982 Mercedes SL500, mounted a camera on it, and had almost 40 friends and family come to meet us throughout the day in different locations to sit in the car for about five minutes each to get their scene. She and I ideated a number of scenarios and vignettes and assigned them to specific people—things we thought would be visually alluring.

“It’s a simple video, and we wanted to keep it that way. We weren’t even originally supposed to make a music video with our budget, but we figured we could do it for cheap enough with the help of all our friends.

“The concept of using our friends came from the song’s lyrics about everyone just getting up, shaking off the dust of LA doldrum behavior, and going out with the top down to see the people you love. There are plenty of scenes and interesting moments to notice if you take your head out of the goddamn screen and go for a “walk” (drive in this case) outside; connect with people and your surroundings and let the day turn into something.”

“‘I’ve Been Taking Walks (La La Song)’ is a ‘get out of bed and smile at the day’ type beat about foregoing the usual drab routines we can get stuck in and really going for what you want with the help of a special and inspirational friend. It’s about going outside because being inside is boring.” Nitefire recently wrapped a sold-out run of coast-to-coast live dates including a Halloween-themed hometown release show. Tour plans are underway for the new year and will be announced shortly.

Hailed by Buzzbands LA for their “swaggering, impudent and reliably catchy indie-rock,” Nitefire have set their hometown’s rock scene ablaze with high-octane house shows and an irresistible approach fusing the sensibilities of Britpop, garage rock energy, angular electronica, and more.

The band first came together in the depths of the COVID-19 shutdown while Nico Geyer and Luke “Spider” White were living in Marilyn Manson’s ex-home in the Hollywood Hills. It was there the two high school friends zeroed in on their vibrant sound, soon adding drummer Noah Davies and guitarist Christian “X” Renard to their ranks.

Tracks such as “Dumb Like Daisies” instantly generated local attention and a fervent following, as did a series of now-legendary house parties that saw the band fearlessly carving out a sound and vision all their own. Now, with The Great, Unwashed – and their hugely anticipated debut album, due in 2024 from Concord Records – Nitefire are poised to bring their highly combustible pop rock ‘n’ roll to the nation and world beyond.
