Eileen Flaherty Named Honorary Cardinals Walk Team Captain
ST. LOUIS, Mo., April 26, 2023 – Registration is now open for the 2023 Komen Greater St. Louis MORE THAN PINK Walk ™ Cardinals Team, presented by Mercy, official Medical Provider of the St. Louis Cardinals. Eileen Flaherty, breast cancer survivor and mother of Cardinals pitcher, Jack Flaherty, will serve as the honorary Cardinals Team Captain. Eileen was diagnosed with breast cancer in October of 2021. After undergoing surgeries and radiation therapy, she is currently cancer free, but continues regular monitoring with her oncologist
“Every human deserves kindness, understanding, grace and empathy. For some, sharing their story is an integral part of the healing journey,” said Eileen Flaherty. “My sons, Jack and Grady, my family, my extended friend group and my rock-star girlfriends rallied for me these last 2 years. I hope fans will rally with the Cardinals at this year’s MORE THAN PINK Walk ™as we raise funds to support Komen’s mission to save lives and end breast cancer.”
The 2023 Komen Greater St. Louis MORE THAN PINK Walk ™ will take place on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Tower Grove Park. While registration for the Walk is complimentary, all participants who register for the Cardinals Team and contribute $25 or more by May 14th will receive an exclusive Cardinals Team t-shirt, while supplies last. Cardinals Team members will also have the opportunity to win free game tickets, plus the member who fundraises the most will be awarded the opportunity to throw ceremonial pitch prior to a mutually agreeable Cardinals game.
Since 2009, the Cardinals have supported Susan G. Komen’s fight against breast cancer through their annual race/walk. Over the years, fans on the Cardinals Team have helped raise over $720,000 in support of a cure.
