MARCH 31, 2023 [Nashville, TN] — EDGEOUT Records artist Bluphoria are thrilled to share their new single “Columbia.” “I always wanted to write a heavier more blues-oriented song for Bluphoria and I think that I did that with this song,” says rhythm guitarist and background vocalist Dakota Landrum on the band’s final single off their self-titled major label full-length debut, Bluphoria (release date: May 5, 2023 via EDGEOUT Records / UMe / UMG).
“When I was putting the words together, I wanted it to be a honest and revealing look at desire and infatuation and needed the music to follow that. However, this song has changed a lot from its conception and many things aren’t the same as the first demo. It brings so much energy and fun to so many shows and I’m proud the whole band made it so much our own.” Lead vocalist and guitarist Reign LaFreniere adds, “[‘Columbia’] is told through the lens of a toxic relationship with somebody. It is one of our more ‘60s hard rock songs and a favorite of the entire band.”
“Columbia” follows on the heels of the band’s newly released single/video for “Ain’t Got Me” – which The Honey Pop lauds “has so many beautiful layers, including great vocals and powerful guitars” – and the previous album singles “Walk Through The Fire” and “Set Me Up.”
For their album, the band worked with GRAMMY® award-winning producer Mark Needham (Fleetwood Mac, Imagine Dragons, Mt. Joy, The 1975) at both the famous East Iris Studios in Berry Hill section of Nashville and his personal studio. Adds Needham, “[Bluphoria is] a great young band with instinctive pop sensibilities combined with a cool edginess and rawness.”

About Bluphoria:
Now based in Nashville, Bluphoria is an alternative rock band with blues rock and psychedelic rock influences. Formed in 2019, the band hails from Eugene, Oregon and is fronted by Reign LaFreniere, 23 (lead vocals, lead guitar) along with Dakota Landrum, 20 (rhythm guitar, background vocals) Rex Wolf, 22 (bass, background vocals) and Dani Janae, 21 (drums, background vocals).
Bluphoria began playing together in their sophomore year at the University of Oregon and was signed to EDGEOUT Records/UMe/UMG in early 2021.
