Beer Review: Mother Earth Brewing Sisters of the Moon IPA
I recently did my first beer trade and received a few different offerings from Mother Earth Brewing our of North Carolina. One of the beers included was Sisters of the Moon IPA.
ABV: 6.90%
IBU: N/A
Style: IPA – American
Brewery Description: Made with hops grown in the good ‘ol USA… you’ll proudly support American farmers when you drink this beer! Light copper in color, it has an intense hop aroma and strong hop bitterness. Our hopback process uses fresh hop cones to take this IPA to unexpected places. Prepare for a mouthful of flavor.
The beer is available year round. I was given 3 bottles.
Appearance: Poured a light copper into my presidential mug (from the Obama administration, not the Trump…unless you like him…). There was about a half inch of white head, but little lacing on the glass.
Smell: Floral smells are prominent, along with malt. There are hints of citrus too.
Taste: The taste pretty much follows the smell. There is a big malt taste. There are also hints of grapefruit and pine. This is a more mellow IPA.
Mouth: This is pretty drinkable. It’s a good one for people that don’t like the bitter IPAs, but it’s got enough bite for people that like the style.
Overall: It’s a solid beer. It’s not something that I’d search for, but if I was looking for something I knew I’d like and saw it, I’d grab it. It also makes me want to see what it like on tap at the brewery.
The Beer Advocate score is 83 (Good) and the Bros haven’t scored it. Untappd has an average ranking of 3.56 in 14,958 rankings.
I’d give this a solid 4 out of 5.
