Beer Review: Kirkwood Station Blackberry Wheat

While doing Episode 13 of our podcast, Toner brought some Kirkwood Station Blackberry Wheat for us to taste.

ABV: 4.80%
IBU: 11
Style: American Pale Wheat Ale
Brewery Description: A uniquely light and refreshing fruit beer with a crisp, clean flavor. It is an easy drinking slightly sweet beer that is yellow in color.

Appearance: The beer poured a hazy yellow from the can. There wasn’t much head on the pour, little retention, and vitrually no lacing.

Smell: The sweet blackberry smell was the main smell, with citrus and malt coming through behind it. It was a very plesant smell.

Taste: It tasted like a typical wheat beer with a slight taste of the sweet berries. There are hints of citrus, fitting the wheat profile.

Mouth: It left a clean taste, very crisp. The light body, again, fit the style. It’s a beer that you could have a few of.

Overall: It’s a very solid beer. The blackberry taste could be a little more prevelant, but it’s definitely a beer that could be a repeat drinker.

The Beer Advocate hasn’t received enough reviews to score it and the Bros haven’t scored it; it’s averaged 3.63 in 32 ratings. Untappd has it as 3.31 with over 1642 rankings.

I’d give this one 4 empty pints (the more empty pints, the better the beer).

Have a beer you’d like to see reviewed? Are you a brewery and want some extra exposure? Let me know here.
