Link Roundup: Rogue One and the Crow

Ghost Dog: The Way of the Jedi
I’m avoiding as many Star Wars spoilers as possible, but I am watching the casting news. So I was very excited to see Ghost Dog himself, Forest Whitaker, is possibly going to be joining Rogue One. He could join Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna and Ben Mendelsohn, who have all been confirmed as cast members.

The movie will take place before Episode IV, and will deal with the team of spys that get the Death Star plans. Gareth Edwards will be directing.

Anything Star Wars gets my attention, so when I heard they were doing another trilogy and a series of one-off films, I was very excited. I’ll see anything Star Wars in the theaters, so I’ll start saving for the expensive movie tickets.

A(nother) New Crow
Maybe it’s fate that another actor has left the movie, but Variety is reporting Jack Huston is leaving the Crow remake. The movie has had a few leads, but the timing of the movie has caused all of them to leave. Huston, of Boardwalk Empire, is said to be leaving for scheduling issues; he is currently tied to “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” and “Ben-Hur”. The movie, which is in pre-production, is slowly moving into production; they are now looking at Nicolas Hoult and Jack O’Connell as replacements.

Director Corin Hardy released the following statement: “Jack Huston is unfortunately unavailable to continue with us on ‘The Crow.’ ‘The Crow’ is an amazing project, and I am grateful that we have the time and patience to get it right. We look forward to unveiling our new lead and starting to film over the next several weeks.”

I’m torn on this movie. I love the Crow, both the original graphic novel and the Brandon Lee movie. If they stick with the source material for this remake, I’ll be happy; if they just go to remake the original movie, I’ll be upset. The original movie was great, but deviated a bit from the comic.
