JOY BUZZER Crank Up The Beatles’ Psychedelic Power Pop on New Single “She Said, She Said”

New York power pop outfit Joy Buzzer reimagine The Beatles’ Revolver classic with fuzz, hooks, and high-voltage urgency.

New York-based power pop band Joy Buzzer have released their latest single, “She Said, She Said,” via Wicked Cool Records, taking on one of The Beatles’ most beloved psychedelic-era tracks and giving it a bold, high-energy makeover.

Originally appearing on The Beatles’ landmark 1966 album Revolver, “She Said, She Said” has long been celebrated for its inventive structure, unforgettable melody, and restless momentum. Joy Buzzer tap into those strengths while amplifying the song’s power-pop DNA, delivering a version packed with bright guitars, fuzzed-out edge, and the melodic punch that has become the band’s trademark sound.

Rather than reinventing the song from the ground up, Joy Buzzer lean into its core strengths and turn up the intensity. Driving rhythms, layered guitars, and an energetic live-band feel breathe new life into the classic while preserving the elements that have kept it relevant for six decades.

“’She Said, She Said’ feels like a natural fit for us because so much of what we love about power pop is already there in the song,” the band explains. “The hooks, the guitars, the momentum—we just wanted to push it louder and bring our own energy to it. It’s incredible how easily a song from 1966 can still feel immediate when you turn everything up.”

A Perfect Match of Influences

Joy Buzzer continue to establish themselves as one of the most exciting names in modern power pop, combining massive hooks, sharp harmonies, and driving guitar work. Their sound draws inspiration from legendary acts including Fountains of Wayne, XTC, Squeeze, Todd Rundgren, and Cheap Trick, blending classic songwriting with a modern alternative-rock edge.

Music publication If It’s Too Loud recently praised the band’s approach, describing their sound as: “Pure power pop joy in the vein of an artist like Fountains of Wayne.”

The publication added: “It sounds like the kind of power pop that was made in the 90s that was inspired by the 60s. It’s undeniably catchy and poppy, but with a little of that 90s alternative rock edge to it. Joy Buzzer are crushing it right now.”

Building Momentum

Led by songwriter and guitarist Jed Becker and fronted by vocalist Kevin Lydon, Joy Buzzer also features guitarist and vocalist Kg Noble, bassist and vocalist Nick DeMatteo, and drummer Mark Brotter. Becker and Lydon previously played together in the NYC garage rock outfit The Lord Calverts.

Since signing with Wicked Cool Records, Joy Buzzer have made a significant impact on Little Steven’s Underground Garage on SiriusXM, with three of their songs earning the station’s prestigious “Coolest Song in the World” distinction.

The band’s Wicked Cool debut album, Pleased to Meet You, was released in October 2024 and introduced a broader national audience to their energetic, hook-heavy take on guitar-driven pop music.

With “She Said, She Said,” Joy Buzzer connect generations of melodic guitar music—from the psychedelic experimentation of The Beatles through the alternative-infused power pop of the 1990s and into their own electrifying modern sound.

“She Said, She Said” is available now via Wicked Cool Records.
