Each year I compile a list of prospect rankings for the Cardinals to help look at where they should rank; this year, the list is a little late, but there are a lot more lists compiled than normal, including a couple from YouTube. I’ve included my own rankings on here as well.
For my rankings, I use video, on-line scouting reports, and the prospect tracker. Most of the weight comes from what I see in the video (I used to see a few minor league games every year, but haven’t been able to do that in a while). I’ve written up the first 25 players, then ranked the next 25.
Here are my full rankings: 1-5 | 6-10 | 11-15 | 16-20 | 21-25 | 26-50
The prospect tracker is 3 pages: an index with links, top Cardinal lists, and top prospect lists with only the Cardinals players pulled out. I will list the average rankings, the median ranking, the mode, the best ranking, the worst ranking, and how many lists they appear on.
For the Cardinal list, the overall ranking (Column 1) is the average, with median and total lists being tie breakers. There are players in blue cells and red cells; the blue are guy who were on lists that didn’t qualify as rookies while the red are players who are no long with the organization (some of these lists were created right when the 2025 season ended).
There’s not much on the MLB Top 100 list right now; I’ll continue to update this as spring training continues.
Unsurprisingly, JJ Wetherholt is the consensus #1 player in the organization. #2 is pretty much split between Liam Doyle and Rainiel Rodriguez. Jurrangelo Cijntje and Brandon Clarke were missing from lists; again, that was due to the time the list was completed.
There were 4 players that were on all 16 lists so far: Wetherholt, Doyle, Rodriguez, and Quinn Mathews. Sebastian Dos Santos had the biggest gap between best and worst ranking (34: Best 18, Worst: 52). There were 18 different players who received a top 10 ranking.
Here’s the tracker:
Did I miss a list? Have your own rankings on Medium, Reddit, or some place else? Throw the link in the comments and I’ll get it added.
