Cardinals To Host 10th Annual Join4Joe Donor Drive This Sunday

CARDINALS TO HOST 10TH ANNUAL JOIN4JOE DONOR DRIVE THIS SUNDAY

Club Will Also Hold a Special In-Game Salute as Part of Cancer Awareness Day at Busch Stadium

ST. LOUIS, Mo., April 10, 2025 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced that it will host the 10th annual Join4Joe donor drive at Busch Stadium this Sunday, April 13, as part of the team’s Cancer Awareness Day presented by Mercy. The event, in partnership with the St. Louis Baseball Writers, seeks to add individuals to the NMDP Registry and increase the chances of finding a donor match for patients awaiting a life-saving blood stem cell or bone marrow transplant.

The annual event and awareness campaign was organized to honor the legacy of Joe Strauss, who covered the Cardinals for 14 years at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and passed away in December 2015 at the age of 54 after a courageous battle fighting leukemia. Through the Join4Joe drive, nearly 300 potential donors have joined the registry since 2016.

Fans can visit the Join4Joe/NMDP booth in Budweiser Terrace beginning when gates open at 11:15 AM to learn more about blood stem cell and marrow donation and join the registry. Those not attending the game can request a swab kit anytime by visiting my.bethematch.org/Join4JoeSTL or texting Join4Joe to 61474. More information can be found at cardinals.com/Join4Joe

As part of Cancer Awareness Day at Busch Stadium, the Cardinals will hold a special in-game salute on the scoreboard at the end of the 3rd inning. Fans can visit Ford Plaza, Budweiser Terrace or the Redbird Club to fill out a “I’m Striking Out Cancer For ________” placard to participate in the stadium-wide moment.

Fans will also be able to sign up in Budweiser Terrace to join the Cardinals Walk Team, presented by Mercy, for the annual Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk at Tower Grove Park on Saturday, June 7.

Fans purchasing a special Theme Ticket for Cancer Awareness Day on Sunday, April 13 will receive a soft Cardinals blanket representing the 11 most common types of cancer in St. Louis. A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to cancer research in St. Louis. Tickets can be purchased at cardinals.com/cancer.
