ST. LOUIS, MO., March 29, 2023 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have selected the contract of rookie outfielder Jordan Walker and added him to the team’s 40-player Major League roster.
To make room for Walker, the team announced that left-handed pitcher Anthony Misiewicz has been designated for assignment.
The Cardinals 40-player Major League roster currently stands at 40.

This isn’t really surprising. Misiewicz was competing against Zack Thompson and Packy Naughton, who made the active roster, and Genesis Cabrera, Andrew Suarez, and JoJo Romero for lefty reliever time in Memphis. It’s very possible that Cabrera gets stretched out as a starter at Triple A. It’s also possible that they still trade a lefty, Misiewicz included, which had been a rumor earlier in the week.
