Cardinals Museum Debuts New Featured Exhibit Highlighting 40th Anniversary of 1982 World Series Championship

CARDINALS MUSEUM DEBUTS NEW FEATURED EXHIBIT HIGHLIGHTING 40^TH ANNIVERSARY OF 1982 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP

“Celebration! 1982” Features An Artifact from Each Player and Coach on the Team and Personal Insights from Hall of Fame Manager Whitey Herzog

ST. LOUIS, Mo., April 4, 2022 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced that the Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum, located on the second floor of Cardinals Nation at Ballpark Village, has unveiled its new featured exhibit entitled “Celebration! 1982”. The exhibit celebrates the 40th anniversary of the 1982 World Series championship season and relives the Whiteyball era—which saw the Cardinals win three pennants and have the best winning percentage among any National League team—from the perspective of the National Baseball Hall of Fame Manager, Whitey Herzog.

he exhibit will give fans an inside look at Whitey’s well-known baseball mind, his thoughts about each player on the 1982 roster and what they brought to the team.  Fans will also learn about the Cardinals players’ insights on “The White Rat” and how he impacted their mindset and skills on the field.

“Our new featured exhibit celebrates Whitey Herzog taking control of the team as both manager and general manager and tells the story of how Whitey’s relationships with his players reshaped the Cardinals roster into World Series Champions,” said Amy Berra, Manager & Curator of the Cardinals Hall of Fame & Museum. “We are grateful to Whitey for working with us to give fans a unique and unprecedented look back at one of the most popular eras of Cardinals history.”

The exhibit features one artifact from each player and coach on the 1982 team, including:

• Cardinals Hall of Fame outfielder Willie McGee’s World Series Game 3 two-home run bat
• Cardinals Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Forsch’s World Series home jersey
• Cardinals catcher and World Series MVP Darrell Porter’s World Series game-used bat
• Cardinals Hall of Famer owner Gussie Busch’s red Cardinals cowboy hat

This exhibit will be open through February 2023 and is included with admission to the Cardinals Museum. The Museum is open daily from 10 AM-6 PM and remains open through the seventh inning during home night games.
