Best of Last Week:
Rather than short reviews on everything, I’m ranking what I read and give a sentence on why you should or shouldn’t read. I’m going to start launching larger reviews as I read books separately.

X-Factor #4: X of Swords is starting off strong and this set up the battles.
Shang-Chi #1: Hopefully the movie will have a similar tone to this book; I really liked it.
Falcon and Winter Soldier #3: A quick, action-packed issue; I’m liking the Hydra kid.
Avengers #36: The story was a little confusing since it was jumping back and forth, but the ending was worth a read.
Strange Academy #3: A fun issue, but little development of the cast.
Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #4: The story is a little stagnant and this issue didn’t do much to advance the plot.
Giant-Size X-Men: Tribute to Wein and Cockrum #1: An interesting book, but it’s really just a reprint with some fancy art.

Retro Review: Night of the Living Deadpool: I read this back when it first came out, but just picked up the trade pretty cheaply. From Cullen Bunn and Ramon Rosanas, this story is set outside of the typical Marvel continuity. Deadpool wakes up from a food coma to find zombies have overrun New York. He travels to find other people while also protecting those who need it.

Bunn writes a tight story (4 issues) with very little filler in it (see Doctor Aphra #4). He knows Deadpool pretty well and created a solid supporting cast; the dialogue and motives were right in line with what we expect for the character.

Rosanas’ art is spectacular. A majority of the book is in black and white, except Deadpool; not once did I have to look back to check that things looked correct. He incorporates a lot of background jokes for those familiar with zombie stories (Bunn also writes a few in too).

Overall, the book is very good for a quick zombie story. It’s one the app, so it’s worth checking out there. 4.5 out of 5.
