I had my Cardinals vs Cubs preview all written up when news came that the Cardinals received another positive Covid-19 test. After a week of no games, I was excited to get the season going again.
As of this moment, it’s a single player testing positive who’s been with the team all season. I’m sure we’ll start seeing the speculation of who is breaking protocol and went out; I’m willing to guess that it’s taken a few days for the symptoms to appear and the test to go positive. Remember, it can be up to 14 days before symptoms appear.
As we’ve learned with the last bout of tests, contact tracing isn’t always available to the public. I’m sure there is something to the speculation that players were at a casino before their outbreak, but the team has denied that. In a situation like this, I’m leaning towards the team, even though they would keep something like a casino visit under wraps.
If they can confirm only 1 players has a positive, they will play tomorrow and Sunday. I’m willing to guess that tomorrow’s game won’t be played and we might see a double header on Sunday. In any case, my preview will be available before the next game.
