Baseball America had a little write up on former Redbird Boone Whiting this morning:

Boone Whiting, rhp, Nationals. Whiting, who twiced ranked in the Top 30 Prospects for the Cardinals, signed with the Nationals in January and went 11-6, 3.90 at two levels. He’s pitching in Venezuela, where he threw 3.2 shutout innings as Zulia beat Lara 1-0. Now 27, Whiting had some shoulder issues and is more about pitchability than stuff.

Baseball America also noted in their weekly transactions that the Cardinals released 2B Luke Doyle.  The team also outrighted RHP Mitch Harris, C Alberto Rosario, and C Michael Ohlman off the 40-man roster.  Check The Cardinal Nation Blog for full transactions and depth charts.
