Urban Chestnut released another IPA in recent months – Fantasyland. They call it a Midwest Coast IPA and it’s part of their Revolution Series (#8):
Fantasyland – Noun; a place or circumstance existing only in the imagination or as an ideal; dream world. Origin – Midwest “Coast” of the United States. Need we say more?!
Style: American IPA
ABV: 6.50%
Offering: 16.9 oz Euro Style Bottle
Appearance: It poured a copper color with thick, off-white head into a pint glass. The 2 fingers of head had great retention and lacing.
Smell: The citrus hops are definitely there, along with some sweet malt. There are also traces of pine and caramel.
Taste: Like the smell, the citrus is front and center; definite grapefruit and some orange peel. There are also hints of grassy hops, sweet malt, and a little spice.
Mouth: The body is medium and the carbonation is low. There’s a slight bitterness to it, but overall it’s a balanced beer.
Overall: This is an easy drinking IPA; nothing earth shattering, but also not overly complex. If you are looking to expand your taste into IPAs, this a good place to start.
The Beer Advocate score hasn’t been established due to only 7 reviews (the rAvg is 3.72); no score from the Bros either.
The Untappd app has 3,572 ratings with an average of 3.67.
(The new scoring…an empty pint glass is a good thing. Since this beer received a 4 out of 5, there are 4 empty pint glasses to represent that. The more full glasses, the worse the beer is.)
