On my last trip to Milwaukee, I picked up about 4 cases of beer that I can’t get in St. Louis. Revolution Brewing’s Anti-Hero IPA was in that load. The brewery is based out of Chicago and I’ve enjoyed the other beers I’ve tasted from them.
IBU: 70
Style: IPA – American
Brewery Description: An American hop assault for all the ambivalent warriors who get the girl in the end. “Look, I ain’t in this for your revolution, and I’m not in it for you, Princess.” This iconic ale features a blend of four hop varieties which creates a crisp bitterness and imparts massive floral and citrus aromas.
Smell: Citrus is the main smell; you get some grapefruit, orange, and mango. You also get hints of the caramel malt and pine.
Taste: The taste matches the smells. The citrus is the strongest, but you also get a piney/earthy quality as well. The hops are a major factor in the taste.
Mouth: It’s pretty light for an IPA, but still a medium body. I’d say it’s on the bitter side. The carbonation is moderate, so it’s an easy drink.
Overall: Really, it comes off more of a session IPA with a little higher ABV. It’s an easy drinking beer if you like them more on the bitter side. Score: 4.5 out of 5.
The Beer Advocate score is 91 (Outstanding) and the Bros haven’t scored it; it’s currently not on their Top 250. Untappd has it as 3.903 with over 102,000 rankings.
