Denver, Colo., June 9, 2015 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to tonight’s game that they have placed outfielder Matt Holliday (right quadriceps strain) on the 15-day disabled list and recalled right-handed pitcher Miguel Socolovich from Memphis (AAA).
Holliday, who was removed from last night’s game in the bottom of the 2nd inning, is on the disabled list for the first time since July of 2013.
Socolovich, 28, is making his second appearance with the Cardinals this season. He was 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA in his prior stint (May 1-27) with the big league club, allowing just one run in seven games (7.2 IP). He was 1-1 with a 0.54 ERA in 10 games (16.2 IP) for Memphis, striking out 15.
