Clinton Portis Out 4-6 Weeks

The Washington Redskins are going to be without a major component to their offense. Running back Clinton Portis is expected to miss 4-6 weeks due to a groin injury.

Portis sustained a 3rd degree separation of his left groin muscle, having it pull off the bone, during the Redskins win over the Eagles on Sunday. Surgery is not required.

“That’s disappointing,” said coach Mike Shanahan, “that working so hard, playing so well, that he’s got that setback.”

Washington might be in trouble, as they don’t have much depth in the back field. Ryan Torain and Chad Simpson look to get the carries, as there are no other options on the roster. If any coach knows how to get the most out of running back, it’s Shanahan. Remember that he jumped from Terrell Davis, to Reuben Droughns, to Tatum Bell, to Mike Anderson, to one Clinton Portis. Now the cycle starts again in Washington.
