The complete, uncut performance features George Clinton, Eddie Hazel, Bernie Worrell,
and Billy “Bass” Nelson, with extended versions of “Maggot Brain,” “I Got A Thing,
You Got A Thing, Everybody Got A Thing,” and more. Mastered from the original tapes
by Dave Gardner, the double LP comes in gatefold packaging with new artwork by Damon

[[

Westbound catalog reissue series. Remastered from the original master tapes by Dave
Gardner, the album returns on transparent red vinyl in an edition limited to 1,000
copies worldwide.

[[

**Allen Ravenstine — On the Mountain**

Thomas on a new release featuring one of Thomas’s last recorded vocal performances.
On the Mountain includes two versions of the title track, with Mike Watt and William
Blakeney joining Ravenstine and Thomas on the alternate version. A reimagining of
Minutemen’s “The World According to Nouns,” performed by Ravenstine and Robert Wheeler
on synthesizers, completes the three-track release.

## Fury of the Gods By John Gwynne: A Book Review

- Published: 2026-10-09T10:00:00-05:00

John Gwynne’s fantasy novel Fury of the Gods serves as the final installment in
The Bloodsworn Saga. The book concludes the trilogy’s narrative, featuring high-
stakes battles, steady pacing, and detailed character development, particularly
for the protagonist Orka.

The story resolves multiple overarching plotlines within a Norse-inspired world
where character survival remains uncertain. The conclusion brings a definitive end
to the series, balancing large-scale conflicts between gods and warriors with individual
character arcs.

### _Fury of the Gods_ by John Gwynne Review

#### A Powerful and Satisfying End to _The Bloodsworn Saga_

I’ll admit it right away: I’m a huge fan of John Gwynne’s _The Bloodsworn Saga_,
and _Fury of the Gods_ delivered everything I hoped for in a finale. It’s the kind
of ending that reminds me why I love epic fantasy in the first place. Great characters,
brutal action, emotional moments, and a conclusion that feels earned from beginning
to end.

[⌊Fury of the Gods by John Gwynne⌉⌊Fury of the Gods by John Gwynne⌉[

[Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Fury-Gods-Bloodsworn-Trilogy/dp/0316539953)

What has always set this series apart for me is its cast of characters, and none
stand taller than Orka. In a genre filled with incredible heroes, Orka deserves
to be mentioned among the greatest female fantasy characters ever written. She’s
fierce, relentless, vulnerable, and believable all at the same time. Every time
she appeared on the page, I was invested in what happened next. Her journey across
the trilogy is one of the strongest character arcs I’ve read in recent years.

Gwynne’s writing is as sharp as ever. Despite the scope of the story and the number
of moving pieces, the pacing never falters. The book constantly pushes forward,
balancing character development, world-building, and action without lingering too
long in any one place. At well over 500 pages, it never felt like a chore to read.

Speaking of action, _Fury of the Gods_ absolutely delivers. Gwynne is one of the
best battle writers in fantasy, and every fight feels impactful. Whether it’s a
one-on-one confrontation or a massive clash involving gods, warriors, and monsters,
the action is exciting, easy to follow, and carries real consequences.

One thing I particularly appreciate about Gwynne’s storytelling is that he takes
a page from George R. R. Martin’s playbook: don’t get too comfortable with the characters
you meet. No one ever feels completely safe. The stakes are real, and that uncertainty
adds tremendous tension throughout the novel and the series as a whole. When major
moments happen, they matter because Gwynne isn’t afraid to make difficult choices
with his characters.

What impressed me most, though, is how well the story sticks the landing. Endings
are hard, especially for epic fantasy series that build up expectations over thousands
of pages. _Fury of the Gods_ manages to bring together its many storylines in a
way that feels satisfying, emotional, and true to the characters. By the final page,
I felt like I’d completed a genuine journey alongside these people.

**Rating: 5/5 Stars**

_Fury of the Gods_ is everything I wanted from the conclusion to _The Bloodsworn
Saga_. With outstanding characters, excellent pacing, relentless action, and an
ending that rewards readers’ investment, John Gwynne has crafted a finale worthy
of the series that came before it. Orka alone makes this trilogy worth reading,
but combined with Gwynne’s Norse-inspired world, memorable supporting cast, and
willingness to keep readers on edge, this is one of the best fantasy series I’ve
read in years. A truly great finish to a truly great saga.

## MC Lars ‘The Edgar Allan Poe LP’: A CD Review

### MC Lars – _The Edgar Allan Poe LP_ Review

For more than two decades, MC Lars has built a career on turning literature, history,
and geek culture into clever, infectious hip-hop. With _The Edgar Allan Poe LP_,
released through **Oglio Records** on digital and CD, he takes perhaps his most
ambitious literary dive yet, crafting a full-length concept album inspired by the
life and works of Edgar Allan Poe.

[⌊MC Lars⌉⌊MC Lars⌉[

At its core, _[The Edgar Allan Poe LP](https://link.content360.io/MC_Lars)_ is exactly
what longtime fans expect from MC Lars: witty lyricism, educational themes, and
a genuine passion for storytelling. What makes this project stand out is how naturally
Poe’s dark gothic atmosphere translates into Lars’ “lit-hop” formula. Rather than
feeling like a history lesson set to beats, the album embraces the macabre humor,
mystery, and tragedy that made Poe one of America’s most enduring authors.

The album opens with “Who Killed Edgar Allan Poe?” and immediately establishes a
true-crime style framing device that runs throughout the record. From there, Lars
explores Poe’s most famous stories and poems, including “The Cask of Amontillado,”“
The Black Cat,” and _The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket_; these tracks
successfully modernize classic source material while retaining enough of the original
themes to satisfy literature enthusiasts.

Musically, Lars avoids relying on a single sound. The production moves between traditional
hip-hop beats, pop-punk influences, and quirky alternative arrangements. Collaborators
including Rodney Anonymous, Schäffer the Darklord, Mega Ran, Christina Rotondo,
and others help keep the album fresh across its substantial runtime. The expanded
anniversary edition further sweetens the package with updated versions of tracks
featuring Watt White, Bowling for Soup’s Jaret Reddick, and the Dead Milkmen, along
with songs from Lars’ earlier Poe-themed releases.

One of the album’s biggest strengths is its accessibility. You don’t need a degree
in literature to enjoy the record. Casual listeners can appreciate the humor, hooks,
and energetic performances, while Poe fans will find countless references and Easter
eggs woven into the lyrics. Lars has long excelled at making educational content
entertaining, and _The Edgar Allan Poe LP_ may be one of his most effective examples
of that approach.

That said, the album’s concept-heavy nature may not appeal to everyone. Listeners
seeking hard-edged contemporary rap or deeply personal songwriting may find the
educational framework a bit limiting. Some tracks lean heavily into narrative exposition,
occasionally slowing the momentum. But those moments are relatively minor complaints
in a project whose primary goal is to celebrate literature through music.

Ultimately, _The Edgar Allan Poe LP_ succeeds because it never feels cynical or
gimmicky. MC Lars clearly loves both hip-hop and literature, and that enthusiasm
powers every track. The result is a fun, inventive, and surprisingly engaging concept
album that honors one of America’s greatest writers while remaining unmistakably
MC Lars.

**Pros**

[⌊MC Lars⌉⌊MC Lars⌉[

 * Creative literary concept
 * Clever, reference-filled lyrics
 * Strong guest appearances
 * Balances education and entertainment
 * Excellent entry point for new MC Lars listeners

**Cons**

 * Concept may be too niche for some rap fans
 * A few tracks prioritize storytelling over replay value
 * Not available on vinyl, only CD

**Rating: 4.5/5** – _The Edgar Allan Poe LP_ is a smart, entertaining celebration
of Edgar Allan Poe’s legacy and another strong entry in MC Lars’ catalog. Whether
you’re a hip-hop fan, a literature nerd, or both, this album offers a uniquely enjoyable
experience that’s as educational as it is fun.

### Marvel’s Spider-Verse started out as a comic event; here’s the order to read it

The 2014–2015 _Spider-Verse_ comic event stands as one of [Marvel’s](https://www.marvel.com/)
most ambitious multiversal crossovers, uniting virtually every parallel-universe
variant of Spider-Man ever created. Orchestrated by writer Dan Slott and artist
Olivier Coipel, this blockbuster storyline pits the scattered heroes against an
existential threat, serving as the direct creative inspiration for Sony’s critically
acclaimed animated movies.

The storyline centers around a desperate, dimension-hopping war for survival. A
family of ancient, vampire-like cosmic immortals known as The Inheritors travels
across the multiverse to hunt down, murder, and devour the life force of “Spider-
Totems.” To survive extinction, the scattered Spider-heroes must band together via
the multiversal Web of Life and Destiny to form a massive Spider-Army, establishing
a tactical base to launch a definitive counter-offensive.

his passion for following every game. The conversation covered the heartbreak of
multiple playoff losses, including the 2012 World Series against the San Francisco
Giants and the controversial imperfect perfect game in 2010.

John reflected on the pitching legends he’s witnessed including [Justin Verlander](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/v/verlaju01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&utm_source=www.nyrdcast.com&utm_campaign=2026-09-30_br),
