### **_CARDINALS RE-ASSIGN THREE PLAYERS TO MINORS_**

#### **_43 PLAYERS REMAIN ON MAJOR LEAGUE SPRING ROSTER_**

**JUPITER, Fla., March 10, 2026 **– The [St. Louis Cardinals](https://www.mlb.com/cardinals/)
announced today that the team has reduced its Spring Training roster to 43 players,
with three players being re-assigned to minor league camp.

Those being re-assigned today were pitchers **_[Max Rajcic](https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=rajcic000max&utm_medium=linker&utm_source=www.nyrdcast.com&utm_campaign=2026-03-11_br)_**
and **_[Bruce Zimmermann](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/z/zimmebr02.shtml?utm_medium=linker&utm_source=www.nyrdcast.com&utm_campaign=2026-03-11_br)_**
and outfielder **_[Chase Davis](https://www.baseball-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=davis-031cha,davis-038cha,davis-036cha&search=Chase+Davis&utm_medium=linker&utm_source=www.nyrdcast.com&utm_campaign=2026-03-11_br)_**.

The Cardinals currently have 30 major league roster players and 13 non-roster invitees
in Major League camp.

None of these guys were projected to make the majors. Zimmermann is minor league
depth, while the other 2 are back-end, legit prospects who need more seasoning.

[⌊Max Rajcic⌉⌊Max Rajcic⌉[

Rajcic has shown flashes in the minors, even being the [Cardinal’s 2023 Pitcher of the Year](https://www.nyrdcast.com/2023/11/ivan-herrera-and-max-rajcic-named-2023-cardinals-minor-league-player-and-pitcher-of-the-year/).
Since then, he’s struggled as he’s advanced in the system. His spring numbers have
looked good, but he’s also facing inferior hitters (6.3 OppQual, equaling a player
between Hi-A and AA). He’ll spend the season in Memphis with a possible late season
call up.

Davis is a little more fascinating. He’s a former first rounder who’s struggle to
put it together as a pro. He’s flashed power in the past, but struggled to tap into
in Springfield in 2025. I think he’s a potential breakout guy this season, like

did last year. He should split the season between Springfield and Memphis.
