Cardinals Announce Roster Changes: Hicks, Molina, Whitley, Woodford, Fernandez, Herrera

CARDINALS ANNOUNCE ROSTER CHANGES; JORDAN HICKS PLACED ON INJURED LIST; MOLINA, WHITLEY & WOODFORD SET TO RETURN

ST. LOUIS, MO., May 26, 2022 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced this afternoon a sequence of roster moves in advance of their series opener with Milwaukee.

The team announced that right-handed pitcher Junior Fernandez was optioned to Memphis (AAA) and right-handed pitcher Kodi Whitley has been recalled from Memphis.

Right-handed pitcher Jordan Hicks (right forearm flexor) has been placed on the 15-day Injured List, retroactive to May 25, and right-handed pitcher Jake Woodford has been recalled from Memphis.

Catcher Yadier Molina has been activated from the Bereavement List and rookie catcher Ivan Herrera has been optioned to Memphis.

Whitley appeared in 11 games for the Cardinals earlier this season (2-0, 4.50) and Woodford has pitched in seven games (1-0, 2.08) for St. Louis this season.
